The parks previously known as Nairn Road Park and Adelong Court Park will now both be known as Nairn Park. Although the parklands are separated by a road reserve, they function as one continuous open space, which led to the decision to unify the name.
Council said the change formalises a name that has already been widely used by local residents for years, making it easier for visitors, emergency services and the community to identify and locate the park.
The new name comes from Nairn Road, which runs alongside the park and was officially named in 1961, making it a logical and locally relevant choice.
The name change followed a community consultation period held between November and December 2025, where residents were invited to provide feedback on the proposal. The new name was then formally approved at a council general meeting on 28 January 2026.
Local councillors said the change was driven by feedback from residents who already considered the two areas to be one park and wanted a single, consistent name.
Nairn Park is a well-used local parkland featuring open green space, playground areas, barbecue facilities and shaded areas for families and community gatherings. The park is commonly used for recreation, exercise, and local events, making it an important community space for Morayfield residents.
While a name change may seem minor, it can have practical benefits. Having one official name improves navigation, mapping, signage, and emergency response location accuracy. It also helps build a stronger identity for the park as a single community destination rather than two separate locations.
As Morayfield continues to grow, clear naming and well-planned community spaces are becoming increasingly important to support the area’s expanding population and ensure public spaces remain easy to access and well known within the community.
Morayfield and the surrounding Caboolture area are continuing to see significant residential growth, with new housing developments, infrastructure and community facilities being delivered across the region. Projects like park upgrades, new playgrounds and improved public spaces are part of broader planning to ensure the area continues to provide lifestyle amenities for families as the population grows.
The official adoption of the name Nairn Park marks a small but meaningful change for the local community, helping simplify park access and strengthen the identity of one of Morayfield’s well-known green spaces.
